The traits of a great franchisee

By Beth Caron

Franchising isn't for everyone, and Great Clips doesn't just allow anyone to become a franchisee. There's a special mix of attributes, professional skills, and yes, even luck, that creates the perfect candidate to be a Great Clips franchisee.

People managers wanted

Great Clips is a people management business. Since our franchisees are not spending their days in the salons, it is critical that they learn early on how to manage their salons through their manager. Developing and maintaining relationships with open lines of communication is a must-have skill in order to be a successful franchisee.

Willingness to follow a system

A great benefit of joining a franchised system is that there's no need to reinvent the wheel, as a process and plan is already in place for you to follow. Great Clips salons must all be consistent and compliant with policies in order to maintain a welcoming atmosphere for all our customers, no matter which location they choose to visit. Those that want to be unique and create their own branding, processes, and policies may find franchising too restricting.

Right place at the right time

This is where some luck comes in, as Great Clips isn't looking for franchisees in every market. Many of the areas where Great Clips salons are located already have enough franchisees to properly develop the market. Do you live in one of the areas where we are expanding?
