In my last blog post, December 21-yes, we had a wonderful holiday break and hope you did, too-I reported that we had recruited 83 new owners and by year-end the number could reach 90.
Well, I was gladly wrong. There was an 11th hour "let's get this done" surge of energy and enthusiasm to close the year and strengthen our position as North America's number one hair salon brand franchise.
And while 92 is a crowning number, it's the "Who's Who" people who join Great Clips that makes our system the leading brand in the marketplace. I'd like to introduce you to three who represent a cross-section of our burgeoning franchise family.
Tom Orsat, Modesto Golden Boy, oenophile, and hearty grandfather
Tom grew up surfing the beaches of Southern California and is a former professional snow skier and pro bowler and has the trophies to prove it. "When you're in residential real estate in California, especially these days, you're on shaky ground," says Tom. "That's why I've partnered with Great Clips. The concept is sure and the business is steady." Tom now pours his competitive juices into collecting wine. His favorite is a 1986 Petrus-a red Bordeaux wine of the Pomerol appellation made almost entirely from the Merlot grape. Tom and wife Patti have two grown children and three grandkids-all of the California variety.
Allan Einboden, father, outdoorsman, and confessed "health nut"
Allen earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Nevada and holds an MBA in accounting and healthcare administration from the University of Arizona. As a Great Clips owner, Allen will continue as CEO of a Texas-based health insurance company, diversify his financial portfolio, and smooth his transition from the executive suite to a robust retirement. He and his wife, Kelly-a registered nurse-have four children oddly enough ages 11, nine, seven and three. Even when they find quiet time together, "We're busy learning and trying new things," admits Allan.
Pramod Tekula, a good neighbor who invested in Great Clips for the greater good.
Pramod was born in India, schooled in the United States, and is devoted to giving those less fortunate an opportunity to earn an education. He's a respected senior software engineer in the Washington, D.C. area. He'll keep his day job while opening several Great Clips. "I've been fortunate. My family owned a business when I was growing up. With the profits from my Great Clips, I want to help poor children in India get an education so they can be successful, too."
Congratulations to all our new owners and to our franchise development team that worked so hard to make 2009 another great year for Great Clips.
